Minor High Surf Advisory until Sun 10:00 PM
Coastal Del Norte; Northern Coastal Humboldt; Southwestern Humboldt; Coastal Mendocino
What to do: Large breaking waves along the coast will lead to increased wave run-up on beaches with waves topping and washing over large rocks and jetties. These large waves can be erratic and unpredictable. Use extra caution near the surf zone as these large waves will be capable of sweeping people into the frigid and turbulent ocean water. Mariners traversing the bar are urged to exercise extreme caution or stay in port until the threat subsides. Please contact the U.S. Coast Guard for information regarding harbor and bar closures.
* WHAT...Large breaking waves 22 to 24 feet. * WHERE...Coastal Del Norte, Northern Coastal Humboldt, Southwestern Humboldt and Coastal Mendocino Counties. * WHEN...From 4 AM to 10 PM PST Sunday. * IMPACTS...Dangerous surf conditions and localized beach erosion. Beachcombing is highly discouraged!. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The large surf on Sunday will coincide with high astronomical tides and high tidal anomalies. This will allow significant runup onto area beaches and may impact normally dry land or even roads or parking lots.
