Moderate Beach Hazards Statement until Tue 10:00 PM
San Diego County Coastal Areas
What to do: If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property. Stay off of sea walls and jetties. Remain farther back from the ocean, as waves will run farther up the beach than expected, especially during high and rising tides. Remain out of the water to avoid hazardous swimming conditions. If you do get in the water, always swim near a lifeguard.
* WHAT...Minor to locally moderate coastal flooding expected. Additionally, dangerous rip currents and surf of 3 to 7 feet expected along west-facing beaches. * WHERE...San Diego County Coastal Areas. * WHEN...For the Coastal Flood Advisory, until noon PST Tuesday. For the Beach Hazards Statement, from 4 AM PST this morning through Tuesday evening. * IMPACTS...Flooding of parking lots and roads with only isolated road closures expected. Dangerous swimming conditions due to elevated surf and strong rip currents. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Highest tides will occur in the late morning each day, peaking at 7.4-7.6 feet Sunday and Monday, which is 1.3 to 1.6 feet above astronomical tide predictions. Surf will be highest at 4-7 feet Monday, which may prolong some of the coastal impacts.
